In 2011, Jesse and Jason founded Beacon Cloud Solutions after experiencing firsthand how slow, manual, and error-prone the Defense Health Agency’s (DHA) cyber audit and RMF workflows had become.
What started as two engineers fixing broken processes turned into a fourteen-year journey of designing, experimenting, and ultimately building a new category of software: Continuous Insight.
A Frustration Sparks an Idea
Beacon Cloud Solutions is founded after Jesse and Jason’s workflow improvements were rejected by their employer. They decide to build something better on their own.
From Small Businesses to Federal Contracting
The team supports San Diego businesses, then secures its first DHA contract and grows federal partnerships with Elumen and Sentar. Jesse and Jason go full-time.
The White Paper That Changes Everything
Recurring PPSM delays lead to a white paper proposing an automated solution. DHA awards the contract, and Brad and Greg join to build the first version of the platform: Siphon.
Siphon Gains Traction
As contractors supporting DHA programs, the team continues evolving Siphon. Adoption grows, processes accelerate, and outcomes improve across the organization.
A Strategic Shift
Beacon Cloud releases and licenses Pylon to the DHA, the successor to Siphon and a major step in the company’s pivot from services to a software-first business.
Beacon Cloud Becomes Pylon
Now a lean, sixteen-person team, Pylon is bootstrapped, profitable, and focused on helping mission-critical organizations achieve real-time alignment across their networks.
